University Image Guided Therapy Center performed the first MRgFUS procedure in the United States, after FDA approval back in October of 2004.

Our Center is an Insightec-certified MRgFUS training site and is at the forefront of expanded clinical applications of MRgFUS in the treatment of uterine fibroids.

As a result of our experience and training, University Image Guided Therapy Center often accepts complex cases from across the United States, including Colorado, New York, Texas, the Carolinas, Georgia, and New Orleans. Patients have also come here from Puerto Rico and Latin America.

The mission of University Image Guided Therapy Center, located in the Research Park of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton Florida, is to provide the highest level of medical treatment using leading edge technology in a comfortable outpatient setting. Our Center is an affiliate of University MRI & Diagnostic Imaging Centers which has been a leading provider of comprehensive diagnostic imaging services since 1998. These services include: MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Nuclear Medicine, Digital X-ray, Fluoroscopy and Bone Density. University MRI is a top research site for advanced General Electric (GE) equipment and technology.

Our MRgFUS Doctors

Susan D. LeBlang, M.D.

Dr. Suzanne LeBlang specializes in MRI applications. She is American trained and Board Certified radiologist with credentials of added certifications in neuroradiology. Dr. LeBlang performed the first FDA-approved MRgFUS case in the U.S. and has, as a single operator, done the most procedures in the country to date. She has extensive experience in treating fibroids including working with very complex fibroids.

Fred L. Steinberg, M.D.

Dr. Fred Steinberg specializes in MRI of the brain and spine, Magnetic Resonance Angiography, Musculosketal, Cardiovascular and Body MRI. He is a Research Professor at Florida Atlantic University for The Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences. Dr. Steinberg is involved in various MRI related research, including Functional Brain MRI and Cardiac MRI studies. Dr. Fred Steinberg is American trained and Board Certified.
